Sharon Hagen

Sharon Louise Hagen, 86, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father at 8:14 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

Born on November 23, 1937, in Jerseyville, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Melba (Fritz) Brooks.

Sharon married Raymond Louis Hagen on June 11, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville. Together they raised their three sons on the family farm in Fieldon. Raymond preceded her in death on April 15, 2019, after 64 years of marriage.

Sharon worked as a cook with Jersey Community Unit School District #100 for 27 ½ years, retiring in 2000. A dedicated and faithful member of Fieldon United Church of Christ since 1956, she served in various capacities throughout the years, including her time spend as a Sunday school teacher. In addition, she was an influential 4-H leader for 18 years, impacting the lives of countless children in her community.

Sharon is survived by her three sons, Rick Hagen of Fieldon, Ron and his wife Malea Hagen of Fieldon and Randy Hagen of Saint Louis, Missouri. She also leaves behind three granddaughters: Lindsey (Tim) Becker of Jerseyville, Jana (Luke) Brooks of Springfield, and Mindy (Geoff) Schulte of Fieldon, along with her cherished great grandchildren: Bryce and Carson Becker, Rowan and Blair Brooks, and Lily Rae Schulte; as well as a sister and brother in-law, Joann and Duey Skinner of Jerseyville.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter in-law, Lorna Hagen; her father in-law and mother in-law, Louis John and Thelma (Seago) Hagen; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Thelma Marie and Edwin Sauerwein and Herbert John and Janice Hagen.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday.

Burial will follow at Fieldon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the Fieldon United Church of Christ, reflecting her lifelong dedication to her faith and community.
