Sharon Grace

Jerseyville |

Sharon Lee Grace, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Jerseyville on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on January 25, 1940, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Fredolph and Hilda (Pasche) Soderberg. From a young age, Sharon carried a quiet strength and gentle warmth that would come to define her throughout her life.

On November 10, 1956, she married the love of her life, Dale Grace. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion, raising four children and creating countless cherished memories. Dale preceded her in death on December 15, 1993, but their bond remained ever-present in Sharon’s heart.

A woman of many talents, Sharon worked as a bank teller at the former State Bank of Jerseyville, where she was known for her kind smile, meticulous nature, and friendly conversation. Her creative spirit led her to open craft stores in both Alton and Jerseyville, where she not only sold handmade treasures but also shared her passion by teaching painting classes to children and adults alike. Whether she was guiding a beginner’s first brushstroke or encouraging a budding young artist, Sharon found joy in inspiring creativity in others.

Sharon treasured the simple pleasures in life—lunches with friends, leisurely shopping trips, and evenings spent in good company. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cat, Noodle, who brought her companionship and comfort in her later years. Her quiet, gentle way and nurturing soul left an impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her three children, Tony (Lisa) Grace of Dow, Tracy (Rick) Perdun of Jerseyville, and Wendy Grace of Batchtown; ten grandchildren, Ray Vancil, Richard Vancil, Melissa (Paul) Lewis, Ryan Vancil, Shakira Grace, Keegan Grace, Kaleigh Grace, Javen Woolsey, Jared Stalcup, and Chelsea (Kenneth) Lenhardt; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimbra Fielder; two brothers, Gerald and Wesley Soderberg; and a sister, Darlene Soderberg.

Private services will be held at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Sharon will be laid to rest at Elsah Cemetery, a peaceful resting place fitting for a life so gracefully lived.

Sharon Grace will be remembered for her artistic soul, her gentle kindness, and the quiet way she loved—steadily, fully, and without condition. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved, and that her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.
