Sandra Kay Royer, age 82 of Greenville, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois.
A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Greenville First Christian Church. The family welcome family and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A table of photos will be set up, please bring your favorite photo of Sandy to share in creating a digital memorial display.
Sandra, the daughter of Luther Allen and Regina Margaret (Buchholz) Koonce, was born July 4, 1942, in Greenville.
Sandra worked for Marriott Food Services for many years at Carlyle, Belleville and O’Fallon School Districts. She was Food Manager in Bond County School District upon her retirement in 1993.
Sandra and Amuel A. Royer were united in marriage on December 23, 1996, in Carlyle, Illinois at the First Christian Church. He survives in Greenville Illinois. Sandra is also survived by her sons Troy A. Spaur and wife Jami of Carlyle, Illinois and son Paul E. Spaur Jr. and wife Brenda of Centralia, Illinois. Her stepsons are David (Judy) Royer, Mike (Kendra) Royer, John Royer and stepdaughter Sue (Jim) Braffet.
Brothers: Jerry Koonce, Tony (Carmen) Koonce, Bob (Debbie) Koonce, Rick Koonce, Steve (Tonya) Koonce all from Greenville.
Sisters: Barbara (Ron)Busch, Glenda (Paul)Spaur of Greenville, Lois Forbes of North Carolina, Teresa Spradling of Mulberry Grove, Marian (Kenny) Jahnsen of Ohio and beloved sister-in-law Jenny Koonce of Missouri.
Sandra also leaves behind numerous Grandchildren, Great- grandchildren, Great- great grandchildren as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brothers Dennis and David Koonce, a sister Joan Hutchinson and brothers-in-law Ron Hutchinson and Ed (Buck) Forbes.
Sandra attended the Greenville First Christian Church with her loving husband Amuel.
Sandra was an amazing artist in the kitchen as well as her painting. She painted on canvas and porcelain creating many beautiful keepsakes for family and friends. She taught painting classes from her home for many years establishing some very deep, loving friendships.
