Sandra Jean Hunter, 52, of Ferguson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 7:17 am at her home.
She was born on August 12, 1966 in Alton, IL, the daughter of James Robert and Thelma L. (Thompson) Hunter. She married Derek Petcu on April 23, 2006 in Florrisant, MO.
Sandra enjoyed reading and socializing with friends. She was considered by family and friends to be an excellent cook, and was known for her vivacious personality.
She is survived by her husband, Derek Petcu of Ferguson, MO; parents, James and Thelma Hunter; two children, Jennifer Stirlen of Raleigh, NC and Alex Stirlen of Charleston, MO; a sister, Katherine Clifton (Scott) of Naperville, IL; a brother, Robert W. Hunter (Jennifer) of River Falls, WI; a father-in-law, Virgil Petcu; a lifelong best friend, Donna McCollum; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Sandra is preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Crew; paternal grandparents, James and Ruby Hunter; and maternal grandparents, Roshia and Robert Pickering.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
