Sandra Rae (McIntire) Compton, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Illinois.
She was born on December 21, 1957 in Grafton, Illinois to the late Floyd Arthur and Dollie Marie (Miller) McIntire.
Sandy married Daniel Compton on October 16, 1974 in Otterville, Illinois and together they were the parents of two daughters, Michele Renae and Brandy Leigh.
Sandy loved taking care of others, making her career as a nurse a natural fit.
Surviving are two daughters, Michele Brannon of Bethalto and Brandy Compton of Alton; six grandchildren, Jared Byrd, Chelseah Byrd, Cassandra Turner, Caleb (Summer) Schulte, Brittani (Joe) Pickett and Eden Turner; four great grandchildren, Jayce Tuey, Makailynn Bryrd, Ashton Turner and Mabel Pickett; her siblings, Mary Johnson, Ray McIntire, Bessie Walker, Pearl Fester, Dollie Klaas, Pat VanWalleghen, Joan McIntire, Barbara Wiley, Lloyd McIntire, Betty Finch and Virginia Ward; along with many nieces and nephews, including two special nephews who held a very special place in her heart and whom she thought of as her own, Johnnie Walker and Keith Fester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Daniel Compton; two grandsons, Rickey Edward Callahan II and Joshua Matthew Compton; as well as two sisters, Janet McIntire and June Hays.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Rev. Martin Smay officiating.
Burial will follow at Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton.
