Salvador Militello

Wood River |

Salvador 'Sam' Militello, 75, a lifelong resident of Wood River and 1957 graduate of EAWR high school, fell asleep in death at home surroundred by his family on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 3:15 a.m.

He loved to camp, take care of his yard and tell stories to his family and friends.  He loved his house full of people eating mostaccoli and homemade sauce.

He was born on October 30, 1938 to Anthony and Josephine (Faldatta) Militello, who preceded him in death.

He married Frances Earlene (Ancell) Militello on June 20, 1959 in Alton.  They were married 43 years before her death in 2002.

He had one brother, Lawrence Militello, who also preceded him in death.

He retired as a Material Group Leader from Olin Corporation on March 1, 2001 after 43 years.

On November 4, 2006, he married Juliene Kay (Gullicksrud) Morgan.  She survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Karen militello of Springfield, Debbie Lopez of Wood River, Diane (Tony) Catlett of Wood River; two step-children, Christi (Timothy) Johnson of Fairfax Station, VA, Chip (Stacey) Morgan of Rosewood Heights; three grandchildren, Samantha (Tom) Fisher, Alyssa (John) Micciche, Trey Catlett; four step grandchildren, Kayliegh Johnson, T.J. Johnson, Kasey Morgan, Chase Morgan; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Militello, Cliffa VanDyke; several nieces, nephews, and cousins who were very special to him.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
