Ruth L. Naughton, 92, passed away at 2:15a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at The Fountains at Godfrey.She was born on June 3, 1925 the daughter of Paul and Cora (Elder) Aulabaugh.Ruth married A. Jack Naughton on February 27, 1947 in Alton.  He preceded her in death on December 2, 2005.She attended Shurtleff  College in Alton and graduated from SIUE. Ruth worked as a research chemist at Shell Oil Company in Wood River and several later several decades as a school teacher in the Alton School system.  She was a long time member of the Alton Area University Women’s Club  and was a lifetime member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton.Ruth is survived by her children and their spouses, Anne (William) Butler of Alton, Alan J. (Gloria) Naughton of Fremont NE, Robert D. (Elizabeth) Naughton of Liberty Hill TX, Donald S. (Paula) Naughton of Goodyear AZ; Seven grandchildren, Paul, Mary and Diane Naughton, Rebecca Arvieux, Kathryn (Casey) Walters, Mark (Alicia) Naughton, Jennifer (Michael) Minton; eight great- grandchildren Truett, Kyra and Ainsley Hayden, Emily Hunt and Madison Minton, Tripp and Graham Walters and Aiden Naughton; and a sister in law Louise Naughton of Godfrey.In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sisters Mary Frances Horsley and Betty Trogden and a brother Paul Aulabaugh.A memorial service will be held on June 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Main Street Methodist Church in Alton.A private burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.Memorials may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church, The Alton 5A’s or the Alzheimer’s Association.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
