Ruth J. Blattner, 79, died unexpectedly at 4:52 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.She was born in Jerseyville on Jan. 11, 1933, the only child born to the late James & Margaret (Mott) Parsell.Ruth graduated from Springfield High School, and worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for a short period of time while living there.  She was formerly married to James Sibert and together they had one son, Mark.After relocating to Jersey County, Ruth married Joseph John Blattner Jr. on Nov. 21, 1970 in Jerseyville, and for many years the two resided in Newbern where they owned and operated "The Gingerbread House", where Ruth was able to display her talents of painting, crafting, and unique gifts; and also worked in food service at Princpia College in Elsah during that same time.  Joe & Ruth lived in Newbern for many years before moving to Jerseyville.  Her husband, Joe died on June 4, 2009 after sharing nearly 29 years together.She continued to teach painting classes, and had many students who became close, personal friends.  She was a loyal and devoted member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville, and assisted them in many endeavors.She is survived by her son & daughter in law, Mark & Judy Sibert of Springfield; a grandson & his wife, Chad & Tanya Sibert of Springfield; two great grandchildren, Brendan & Shea Sibert; a stepgranddaughter & her husband, Jennifer & John Blean, and their son, Jacob of Beverly Hills, Fl.; along with many close and dear friends, whom she treasured.Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday.Burial will be in the Newbern Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville
