Russell Howard Prill, 90, died at 4:05 a.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.He was born in Kane, Il on Sept. 13, 1921, and was one of six children born to the late John L. & Agnes (Schmittag) Prill.Russell graduated from the three year Kane High School, and finished his senior year at Jersey Township High School.He soon began his employment with the Olin Corp. in East Alton and was there until he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving during World War II.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to his job at Olin and remained there, dedicating over 40 years of service.He married Maxine J. "Mickie" Wock in August of 1950 at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Jerseyville, and together they have shared nearly 61 years together.Surviving are his wife, Mickie Prill of Jerseyville; a sister, Dorothy Sauerwein of Jerseyville, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Foiles; and three brothers, Eugene Prill in infancy, Laverne Prill and Earl Prill.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with a Prayer Service beginning at 4 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.Burial will take place at the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to either the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools, or to Masses.
