Roy G. Parker, 74, of South Pasadena, FL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3, while living his best life with friends and family on a trip to Colorado.
Born July 6, 1950, he was the son of Maria Stiles and Robert Parker and grew up in Alton, Illinois. He served in the Army and Vietnam War before coming home to pursue an education at University of Southern Illinois Carbondale. He returned to Alton after graduation and married Marcia Venardos in 1975. Together they raised three children living in Florida and then Denver before returning back to Alton. He went on to meet his long time partner, Barbie, who he spent 22 years with enjoying Florida life on the beach.
Roy loved listening to and creating music. He most especially loved doing it with his brother Dennis and daughter Megan. He was an avid golfer and spent his birthday every year with his son JT and daughter Amy on a week long golfing extravaganza that featured many friends as guest players. He was a true entertainer at heart and loved telling stories and making people laugh. He was his children's biggest cheerleader and always let it be known how proud he was of us and how much he loved us.
When he wasn't traveling he was keeping busy at home with Barbie, organizing his golf collection and enjoying his retirement years.
He is survived by three children who adored him: Amy Clark (Jeremy) of St. Charles, Missouri, Megan Catalfomo (Noah) of Denver, Colorado, and JT Parker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; His long time partner Barbie Durr of South Pasadena, Florida; His four grandchildren Jack, Caroline, Mia, and Obi; and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Dennis Parker and Robert Parker; and a daughter Allison Parker.
