Roy Dale Ferguson, 83, died at 4:53 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. He was born December 17, 1930 in Moose Lake, Minnesota the son of the late Bertha (Probst) Ferguson. He was a platoon sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Illinois Bell as a lineman and foreman. He went on to be owner and operator of Alton Fence and Door and retired in 2007. He attended Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey. He enjoyed wintering in Florida during his retirement years.

On June 7, 1957 in Alton, he married Thelma Stanka, who he met at the Alton Water Ski Club and she survives.

Also surviving are one son; David Ferguson and his wife Lynn of Bayfield, Colorado and one daughter-in-law; Dawn Ferguson of Alaska, three grandchildren; Zachary Ferguson, Jim Ferguson and Jack Ferguson. He was preceded in death by one son; Michael Ferguson, one brother; Louis Ferguson and one sister; Beulah Sibley.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of Funeral service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Kelly Mitteis to officiate.

Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, or Blu-Fountain Manor or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
