Rosemary Kathleen Manns, 102, passed away at 4:33 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 22, 1922, in Alton, to John W. and Eleanore (Klinke) Lauer. She graduated from Marquette Catholic High School, and after Marquette graduated from secretarial school at the Ursuline Convent in Alton.
On Aug. 21,1943, she married Erwin Edward Manns at St. Mary's Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1997.
Rosemary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren - always taking great pride in their educational and other achievements. She also loved to travel - with Erwin and in later years on trips to Europe with her children; and throughout her life, she loved her books.
Rosemary wanted to thank her children and their families for all their help and kindness in her later years, and especially Erin Dooling who took such good care of her these past few months.
Rosemary is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Leslie (John) Robison of Fairfield, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, James (Norma) Manns of Leawood, KS and Thomas (Christie) Manns of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Erich) Pfafflin, Anne (Matthew) Hoover, David (Erin) Dooling, Elizabeth (William) Oades, Michael (Elizabeth) Manns, Emily Manns (Mark) Williams, and Olivia Manns; one brother, John Lauer, MD; fifteen great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and good friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Jean Dooling; a grandson, John Robison III; and three sisters, Jean Springman, Jacqueline Fleisher and Carol Breyfogle.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Visitation will be held from 9-9:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Celebrants, Father Steve Janoski and Deacon Bill Kessler.
Inurnment to St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Marquette Catholic High School.
