Rosemarie Brown
Godfrey |
Rosemarie Brown, 91, passed away peacefully at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 22, 1932 in Chicago to William and Rena (Menu) Pfaff. She married Lester A Brown in Alton in 1958. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Rosemarie's greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in raising her seven children and taking care of her family as well as seeing her grandkids and great grandkids. Later in life, she worked as a Purchasing Agent for St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Crisis Food Center in Alton for many decades until she was unable to drive. She was a Cardinal fan through and through during their good and bad years and she truly enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feeding outside her window every year.
Rosemarie is survived by six children, Barbara (Richard) Rathgeb of Texas, Brenda (Wynndel) Buenger of Godfrey, Donald (Michelle) Brown of Dorsey, IL, Debra (Paul) Penning of Brighton, Mary (Bob) Kilpatrick of Texas, and Susan (Bruce) Bathe of St. Charles, Missouri; as well as thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rosemarie was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Schlemmer (Francis) of Westmont, IL.; and a brother, Robert Pfaff of Wayne City IL.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral home in Godfrey has been entrusted with arrangements. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Crisis Food Center in Alton or the OSF Hospice Center that provided her with needed support.
