Rosella M. McCoig, age 86 of Alhambra, IL, died Monday, August 5, 2024, at Gillespie Health & Rehab Center in Gillespie, IL.
She was born on Sunday, October 3, 1937, in Licking, MO, the daughter of Sam and Anna (nee Miller) Crabtree.
She married SSgt. James Freeman McCoig, Sr. in 1964 in Carlinville, IL, who passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 1975.
Rosella was born in Licking, Missouri. She grew up in Licking, southern Missouri and later in Murphysboro, south Illinois. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking and dancing. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who was always on the go.
Survivors include: Daughter - JoAnn Cross, Alton, IL; Son - Roy Alonzo Day, Alhambra, IL; Daughter - Linda (Rick) Bondy, Staunton, IL; Daughter - Vickie (Jimmy) Pocklington, Carlinville, IL; Daughter - Ellie May (Brian) Schreiber, Gillespie, IL; Daughter - Joyce M. (Bill) Rimmel, Raymond, IL; Son - James F. McCoig, Jr., Gillespie, IL; Brother - Joe Dan Crabtree, Rolla, MO; Grandchildren - 17; Great Grandchildren - 27; Great Great Grandchildren - four.
She was preceded in death by: Father - Sam Ross Crabtree - Died 10/31/1987; Mother - Anna Anderson Crabtree (nee Miller) - Died 10/30/1957; Husband - James Freeman McCoig, Sr., U.S. Army SSgt., Retired - Died 4/29/1975; Son - Freddie L. Crabtree - 12/5/2002; Sister - Rosie E. Crabtree - Died 3/24/1929 1 yr.; Brother - Winford Franklin Crabtree - Died 12/23/2004; Sister - D. Lucille Hall - Died 08/18/1989; Brother - Otis E. Crabtree - Died 9/08/1986; Sister - Myrtle G. Kelley - Died 4/01/2006; Grandchild - Timothy Parnell; Grandchild - LaWanda Mae Crabtree; Great Grandchild - Kyara Stewart.
Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary, Alhambra, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL and from 9 to 10 a..m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL, with Rev. Mark Gause, First Baptist Church, Alhambra, officiating.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro, IL, with Pastor Larry Worthen, officiating.
