Ronald E. Thorton, 69, passed away at 7:10 am Friday December 23, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Hospital from Complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Visitation will be from 5 pm until 8 pm Wednesday December 28, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey IL. Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Thursday December 29, 2011 at the Funeral Home. Pastor David Crowley will be officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Ronald was born February 15, 1942 in Alton to the late Orville and Geraldine (Schifflett) Thorton. He graduated from Alton High School in 1960 and attended the SLU Alton Campus. After serving 3 years in the US Army he went on with a career in banking and more recent years as a sales representative for Illinois Wholesale Furniture Company in East Alton IL. His greatest passion was working on computers and visiting with his friends at the Alton Motor Boat Club.
He is survived by his sister Donna and her husband Philip Halford of Waco TX; a niece Heather and her husband Brian White along with three grand nieces, Hayden, Campbell, and Rory Jayne.
The family extends thanks to the nurses at St. Claire’s and St. Anthony’s Hospital.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
