Ronald D. Tickner, age 83, passed away at 11:00 am, Monday March 5, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Alton, IL on May 12, 1928 the son of the late Paul and Lucy (Branham) Tickner.
Ronald served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from October 19, 1950 until October 10, 1952 where he received a Purple Heart. He was a truck driver for Teamsters 525 for twenty year retiring in 1990. He belonged to the Alton Eagles Lodge and the Alton / Wood River Sportsman Club. Ron loved playing golf, reading, watching westerns on T.V, and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapshooting.
He is survived by his wife Carol three children and their spouses Michael A. & MaryAnn Tickner of Godfrey, Michele R. & Eric W. York of Alton, Cynthia A. & Matthew F. York of Edwardsville, seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers his twin Donald Tickner, Edger Boyd, Paul J. Tickner, one sisters Margariete Darnell and an infant sister.
Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded.
