Ronald "Ron" Paul Bollinger, 88, of Bethalto, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025.
He was born in Highland, IL, on November 1, 1936, the son of Feador "Ted" and Mable M. (Kueker) Bollinger. 64 years ago, he married Patricia "Pat" Green on April 9, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville. She survives.
Ron is a United States Army Veteran. He went on to graduate from Edwardsville High School in 1954, then graduated from SIU of Edwardsville in 1971. Ron worked in banking for 40 years. He retired from Brighton Citizen's State Bank in 2002 as the Senior Vice President/Loan Officer.
Throughout the years, Ron was an active member in his church: Trinity Lutheran, Edwardsville; Zion Lutheran, Bunker Hill, and Zion Lutheran, Bethalto. Ron was also active in the Lion's Club in Bunker Hill as well as the American Legion of Bunker Hill. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife, Pat, he is survived by his children, Kim (Mike) Viano of Carlinville, Susan (Chris Waldow) Bollinger of Fenton, MO, and Michael (Stephenie) Bollinger of Winters, TX; siblings, Judy (Jay) Thatcher of TX, and Jim (Carla) Bollinger of Huntley, IL; grandchildren, Kelsee (Ryan) Polk, Austin (Jenny) Viano, Lea Viano, Jonah Henry, Caleb Henry, Adriana Bollinger, and Risa Bollinger; and great-grandchildren, Aspen, Gryffin, and Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Pastor Kale Hanson and Pastor Brandon Metcalf will officiate. Military honors will be performed by Alton VFW Post 1308.
