Roger Frank Linenfelser Sr

Roger Frank Linenfelser Sr., 79, died at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.He was born in Jerseyville on Dec. 29, 1936, the son of the late Alfred Charles & Kathleen (Bligh) Linenfelser.  He was raised in and around Kane and was lovingly raised by his great uncle and aunt, William & Henrietta Wayham.Roger retired in 1993 from McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis as a sheet metal assembly riveter after 37 years of service.  After his retirement, he loved to winter in both Florida and Texas.  He loved to camp, and traveled extensively throughout the United States as well as six countries, and enjoyed it most when family was involved.He was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge 951, and truly enjoyed the time spent and friendships made at the Michael Tavern, as well as the Kane Legion.He married the former Gladys Lee Dunn on Nov. 24, 1956 in Jerseyville, and together they were the parents of three children, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.Surviving are his wife, Gladys Linenfelser of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Kay & Vince Wittman of Jerseyville; two sons & a daughter in law, Roger F. Linenfelser Jr. of Jerseyville, and Ronald & Chrissy Linenfelser of Godfrey; five grandchildren & their spouses, Lisa & Kevin Bizaillion, Mike & Bethany Wittman and Amy & Danny Green all of Jerseyville, Lauren Linenfelser and Chance Linenfelser both of Godfrey; three great grandchildren, Madison & Mya Green, PeiperWittman, and his first great grandson, Henry Wittman, to be born any day; three step great grandchildren, Alexandra,Kennadi, and Keirstyn Bizaillion; four half sisters & their spouses, Sandra & Jim Yates of Wood River, Carolyn Kennedy ofKetchum, Idaho, Marilyn & Don Blackburn of Alton, and Donna Reis of Ft. Worth, Tx.; two half brothers & their spouses,  Charles & Judy Linenfelser and Michael Linenfelser all of Roanoke, Va.He was also preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Lee Linenfelser; three half brothers, Robert Linenfelser, Larry Linenfelser, and Donald Cox.Visitation will be from 11 a.m., Sunday until time of funeral services at 2 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with his family conducting the service, assisted by Rev. Jonny Wooten of Grace Community Baptist Church in Jerseyville.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to Cure SPA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) in care of the funeral home.
