Robin Roberts

O'Fallon, Mo. |

Robin J. Roberts, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away, Monday, January 29 at the age of 73.

Beloved husband of Carole; dearest father of Cara (Alan) Williams, Leah (Rob) Raggio and BethAnne Dorn; cherished papa of Ellyanna Sherlock, Anya Sherlock, Michael Williams, Elise Raggio and Auggie Raggio.

He was born January 12,1951, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Robert and Rosella (Dehner) Roberts. He was united in marriage to Carole Roberts on August 5, 1972, in Flora, Illinois at the Flora First United Methodist Church.

Beyond his family, Robin was deeply cherished by his spiritual family. His many years in service as an itinerant minister touched the lives of people near and far. Robin felt a call for ministry and began his ministry as an associate pastor in 1982. He studied at Rhema Bible Training Center and graduated in May 1983. Following that service, he felt called to itinerant ministry and began ministering throughout the United States in 1990. From there, his travel expanded into Central America and Europe, eventually growing the partnership across churches in the United States and Europe called Vision Europe. His unwavering faith and bold leadership fostered deep friendships around the world.

When he wasn’t studying his well-worn King James Bible or planning an outreach over dinner with beloved partners in ministry, Robin could be found enjoying a Western with popcorn, listening to a Cardinals baseball game, or reading up on the latest car models. He was a history buff and fan of politics – he was student body president during his time at SIU-E – and enjoyed biographies of American presidents.

Most of all, he loved his family. Robin is survived by his loving wife, Carole, of 51 years; three children, Cara (Alan) Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leah (Rob) Raggio of O’Fallon, Missouri, BethAnne Dorn of Durham, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Ellyanna Sherlock, Anya Sherlock, Michael Williams, Elise Raggio, and Auggie Raggio; siblings and sisters in law, Elaine (Bob) Weaver, Carol Roberts, Kevin (Jill) Roberts, Betty Roberts; brothers and sisters in law, Kent (LeeAnn) Warren, Teresa Toler, Doug Warren, Angi (David) Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Rosella Roberts; mother and father-in-law: Charles Neal & Mary Jane Warren; three brothers: Gary Roberts, Keith Roberts and Michael Roberts; brother-in-law George Toler. He was also an uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St., Alton, IL 62002. Burial will be at Brighton Cemetery.
