Robert W. Kulp, 88, passed away at 11:28 am Friday, January, 28, 2011 at Eldercare Nursing Home in Alton.
He was born on June 21, 1922 in Alton, IL, the son of Henry and Helen Kulp.
He married Mary Mildred Nibert on September 28, 1948 at St. Matthews Church in Alton by Father William Croke. She survives.
He served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was an electrician with the Electricians Local 649 for 40 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, Alton VFW Post 1308, the Alton American Legion #354 and Alton Eagles F.O.E. 254.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark Kulp of Springfield, MO; a daughter, Lucia Hussain of Baldwin, MO; six grandchildren, Sgt. Blaze Kulp, serving his country in Iraq and Amy, Tristese Kulp, Hannah Kulp, Sara Hussain, Javad Hussain and Zainab Kulp and a great grandchild, Colten Kulp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry and Clarence Kulp and four sisters, Bertha Shattner, Rose Eppel, Helen Bireck and Lucille Schultz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Services will be at 10 am Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery in Alton with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to Masses or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
