Robert David Mayer, 50, of Alton, passed away on November 7, 2023, at his home in Alton, IL.
He was born on June 5, 1973, to David and Marie (Malone) Mayer at Alton, IL. Robert worked as a Taxi Driver for ABC for several years, and was very proud of his service to the community. On May 19, 2023, he married his sweetheart, Norma Dillow at the Edwardsville Courthouse. She survives.
Robert loved music. He enjoyed all kinds and could always be found listening to something, but Smashing Pumpkins was a favorite. Robert loved animals. He enjoyed taking care of his bearded dragon, Clyde, as well as their cats. Robert loved spending time with his family and will truly be missed by them.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Norma; his parents, David and Marie Mayer of Alton; Avery Hanover, whom Robert loved like a son; siblings, Mike (Sheila) Mayer of Alton, Melissa (Edgar) Basden of Evansville, IN; Sandra (Dan) Sidor of Denver, CO, Tim (Angie) Mayer of Alton, and Tina (Jason) Kelley) of Alton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and professional services will be handled by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
