Robert Lee Dubinick, 77, passed away at 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Barnes - Jewish Hospital.
He was born on March 8, 1933 in Virden, Illinois the son of the late John Dubinick and Jane (Tucker) Harris.
He married the former Patricia Vaughn on May 28, 1960 and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Pamela and Laurence Jenkinson of Edwardsville, a son: Robert Dubinick Jr. of Springfield, Missouri, four grandchildren: Cody Robert Maching, Hayley Patrice Maching, Heidi Ellen Maching, Bridget Leigh Dubinick, and one brother: Harry Dubinick of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
He was formerly employed as a 7th grade teacher at Venice Grade School prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a standout basketball player at Venice High School where he set numerous records that still stand and he also played basketball at St. Louis University. He loved basketball, his kids and grandkids. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Charles Dubinick and one sister: Martha Allen.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Following visitation, cremation rites will be accorded.
