Robert Schone Gusoskey Jr., 76, passed away peacefully at 9:56 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
He was born on January 25, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Robert Schone and Ruth (Bacon) Gusoskey Sr.
On November 4, 1972, he married Donna Lou Burns at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, Illinois. Together, they shared many years of love and happiness.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, as an Army Ranger in the Vietnam War. He had a deep passion for fishing and squirrel hunting. He was also an avid Corvette enthusiast, owning a 1968 Corvette and a 1973 Corvette, which was a cherished gift from his son.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; daughter, Erica (Jon) Clifford of Godfrey, IL; son, Robert (Laura) Gusoskey of Bunker Hill, IL; grandchildren, Mason Gusoskey, Grayson Clifford, and Eva Clifford; niece, Kim Schneblin, and Christi Wensler.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Luann Schneblin.
A celebration of life will be held on April 26th, 2025 Faith Fellowship Church, 4719 Seminary Rd. Alton from 1:00 to 4:00.
Inurnment with be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter, a cause dear to his heart.
