Robert Young

Robert Dale Young, 80, of Walshville, IL, died at his residence on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. 

He was born November 27, 1941, in Litchfield, IL to Dale Young & Lydia (Gavene) Young Osborn.  He married Peaches (Stankoven).  Later, he married Elizabeth M. (Brozich) Young.  In 1965, he went to Walshville and farmed with Luther Kelly and eventually took over the farm.  Robert was a retired operating engineer from Local 520.  Robert was a member of the Operating Engineer Local 520 and Laborers Local 338.  In 4H, he raised Duroc hogs and won Grand Champion at the State Farm. He enjoyed drag racing and racing stock cars in his youth. 

He is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth Young of Walshville, IL, children, Robert (Justine) Young of Columbia, IL, Alan (Kelley) Young of Collinsville, IL, David Young of Walshville, IL, Diane Young of Walshville, IL, grandchildren, Kassi (Seth) Meashey, Marcus (Christine) Young and Ashley Young. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Bill Osborn. 

Friends may call on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at  Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  Funeral services are Monday, March 21, 2022, at 11:00 am at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL.  Burial will be at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.  Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Donor's Choice.  Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.  Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL  is in charge of the arrangements.
