Robert Alan “Bob” Brown, age 86 of Greenville, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 7, 2024.
The family will have a private interment in Brown Cemetery. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no public service at this time. Memorials are asked to be made to the Bond County Hospice, Bond County Memorial VFW Post 1377, or Brown Cemetery. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be mailed to the funeral home at 203 West Oak Street, Greenville, Illinois 62246 or dropped off at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.
Bob was the son of John Samuel and Eva Leola Martin Brown. He was born February 14, 1938 at home in Greenville. Bob attended local area schools and graduated from Greenville High School in 1956. He graduated from Greenville College in 1960. Bob worked for DeMoulin Brothers in many positions, eventually being vice-president. He worked for over fifty years in the graduation apparel industry.
Bob and Nancy Lee DeMoulin were united in marriage on September 19, 1957. They enjoyed 66 years together. They are parents of Terry Derrick, Scott Brown, Jeffrey Brown and wife Kelli, and Matt Brown and wife Denice. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Villa Brown and son-in-law Doug Derrick. He is also survived by brother Carl Brown and wife Judith of Williamsburg , Virginia, brother-in-law Dick DeMoulin and wife Robin. He is the uncle to local nieces Wanda McCasland and husband Tom, Claudia Baumberger and husband Kurt, and nephew Todd Brown and wife Soodi. He has many nieces and nephews around the country.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Neta Hill, and brothers Kenny, Don, and Jim.
Bob was a loving grandfather to Lesley, Jamie, Kelly, Megan and husband Michael, Casey, Macy and husband Matt, Clay and wife Abby and Cody. Loving great-grandfather to Emmy, Keegan, Ivy, Alex, Ben and soon arriving, Sofia.
Bob had a great talent for carving duck decoys. He loved to hunt and play golf. But mostly, he and Nancy loved to ride in the country with one of their Labrador Retrievers and drink coffee, looking at deer, turkey, and all the farmers’ crops.
Bob and Nancy were long time members of the Greenville Country Club, the Greenville VFW Auxiliary, and members of the Greenville Presbyterian Church.
