Robert Berger

Jerseyville |

Robert Henry Berger, 78, passed away at 8:49 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at his home in Jerseyville, following a period of declining health.

He was born on May 5, 1947, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Frederick R. and Zada (Willman) Berger. At the age of 12, his family relocated to Jerseyville, where he graduated with the Class of 1965 from Jersey Community High School.

A lifelong farmer, Bob worked the land south of Jerseyville with commitment and pride. He also dedicated 17 years to the Jersey Community Unit School District #100 as a bus driver, where his calm demeanor and steady presence became a daily comfort for countless students.

Bob met Marsha (Foster) Brown on a blind date arranged by mutual friends, Roger and Renee Scheffel. That fateful introduction led to their marriage on August 19, 1995, at Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville. Together, they built a life full of laughter, deep faith, shared challenges, and many cherished memories.

He was a true Cardinals fan through and through, loved playing the board game “Fast Track,” and never passed up a slice of coconut cream pie.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Marsha Berger of Jerseyville; a stepson, Kevin Brown of Reno, Nevada; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Gary Price of Greenfield; as well as two nephews, Jacob Ballard of Springfield and Jonas Ballard of Greenfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Kent Brown, who passed away on June 9, 2020.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, at LifechurchX in Jerseyville, where Bob and Marsha were longtime members.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to LifechurchX, in honor of Bob’s faith and commitment to his church community.
