Robert E Barnard, 68, passed away at 3:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, in Alton, IL.
He was born on September 1, 1955, in Whitehall, IL to Melvin K. and Wilma L. (Dawdy) Barnard.
He married Debra Wendle on June 21, 1975, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She survives.
Robert graduated from Alton High School and embarked on a diverse career path, serving as an electrician, packer, and truck driver. Notably, he held the esteemed position of Union President for the local AFL-CIO.
Among his passions were fishing and riding motorcycles. Additionally, he was a dedicated follower of NASCAR, ardently supporting the St. Louis Cardinals and the racing endeavors of Kyle Busch.
Along with his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Joseph (Samantha) Barnard of Alton, IL, Angela (Chris) Turpin of Alton, IL, and Danielle (Eric) Wright of Alton, IL; grandchildren, Haylee, Thomas, Anthony, Carter, Emmaly, William, Rhianna, Chloe, Lillian, Rosalie, Carolyn, Louanne, Kyline, and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Nolan, Hayden, Tyson, and Jackson; and siblings, Becky (David) Vaudrin of Converse, TX and Brenda Barnard of Godfrey, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teresa Downey; and siblings, Beverly Elliott and Gary Barnard.
Visitation will be 4-7pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Burial will take place at Fosterburg Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to OSF Moeller Cancer Center.
