Robert J. “Bob” Albers, 86, of Morton, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on August 12, 1938, in Alton, Ill., to Arthur and Elisabeth (Wickenhauser) Albers. Bob married Sue Spears on September 27, 1985, in Crystal Lake, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Spears; children, Elisabeth Albers, Steven Albers, Debbie (Scott Brejcha) Bott, Kathy (Kirk) Schoenbein, Sharon (Brent) Mathison and Susan (Hassan) Kazi; grandchildren, Neal Bott, Olivia Bott, Carly (Kyle) Hill, Heidi (Zach) O’Brien, Jodi (Jake) Cochrane, Abishai (Kaitlyn) Schoenbein, Benaiah Schoenbein, John Mathison, Courtney Mathison, Kylie Mathison, Rahman Kazi, Khaleel Kazi, and Jessmine Kazi; and nine great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Don Albers, Joanie (Steve Sands) Albers, Rick Albers, Jim (Ginny) Albers, John (Santica Marcovina) Albers and sister-in-law, Candy Schuettner.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rick Bott, granddaughter, Abbey Bott, and sister–in-law Vicki Albers.
Bob graduated from Loras College and went on to receive a PHD in Psychology from The University of Texas-Austin.
He pursued a number of passions during his lifetime. Bob taught statistics to post-doctoral students, was the HR Director at Human Service Center of Peoria, was a Clinical Systems Analyst at Loyola University Medical Center for 22 years and was a Federal Arbitrator at Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Bob was a passionate individual investor. He spent years developing a very successful investment strategy that he called the Dividend Growth Investing Strategy. His heart’s desire was to share his strategy with all who would listen, especially his children and grandchildren. Bob is a published author of 2 investment strategy books and taught his curriculum at Bradley University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Program.
Bob was most at peace in the woods. He was passionate about forestry conservation. Bob established a tree farm as part of the American Tree Farm System in Metamora, IL. He grew seeds into saplings and nurtured the saplings into trees. As part of his stewardship of the land, he would engage in forest management and encouraged his children and grandchildren to participate.
