Richard L. “Dick” Pruett

Richard L. “Dick” Pruett, 78, passed away at 10:56 am Friday January 28, 2011 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton with his family by his side.



He was born on December 11, 1932 in Alton, the son of Russell L. and Gladys P. (Waters) Pruett.



Dick married Shirley M. Looper on February 8, 1958 at Eight St. Presbyterian Church in Alton and she survives.



He was a Plant Engineer for Owen Illinois Glass Co., in Godfrey retiring in 1990 after 40 years.  He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956.  Dick graduated from Alton High School in 1950.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid trap shooter, duck hunter, fisherman and loved playing golf.  He was a member of the Masonic Temple Franklin Lodge #25, Shrine - Ainad Temple of East St. Louis and the Alton Wood River Sportsman Club.



In addition to his wife, two daughters Susan K. and her spouse Albert Belanger of Sanger, TX and Beverly L. Pruett of O’Fallon, MO, also survive him.



In addition to his parents, two sisters Betty Duncan and Elsie Blewer also preceded him in death.



In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm Sunday January 30, 2011 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. The Franklin Masonic Temple #25 of Alton will conduct Masonic Rites at 7 pm Sunday January 30, 2011.



Funeral Services will be at 11 am, Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Chaplin Linda James officiating.


Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with Military Rites conducted by the Alton VFW post 1308.



Memorials may be made to Eunice Smith Alzheimers Unit or BJC Hospice of Alton.
