Richard D. "Rick" Hunt, 79, passed away at 11 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Highland Healthcare Center.
He was born on December 9, 1945, in Paxton, IL the son of Forrest B. and Vertice (Hambleton) Hunt. Rick was formerly married to Jolene K. (Florini) Hunt of Bethalto, IL.
Rick is a Veteran of the United States Army Reserves, were he proudly served his country. He dedicated much of his life to serving the community, working as a Chemist then an Assessor for Dorchester Township.
Beyond his professional life, he had a variety of passions. He loved cross-stitching, enjoyed spending time at the casino, and most of all, he cherished being with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jeff and Kathy Hunt of Cottage Hills, Janell and Derek Kahl of Bethalto, IL, and James Hunt of Bethalto, IL; and grandchildren, Jayden, Nolan, Nathaniel, Mya, Adrienne, Elijah, and Gwynnaviere.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Linda Fischer
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at the Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Inurnment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or DAWG Nations.
