Richard D. “Rick” Hoffstetter, 64, passed away Friday, January 3, 2024 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born April 10, 1960 in Alton, he was a son of Lee E. and Barbara M. (Kopsie) Hoffstetter.
Rick worked as a maintenance man for several places, including Holiday Inn-West in St. Louis and the Village of Hartford. He ended his work career to stay home and care for his mother, and later did the same for his father. He could fix anything and helped his family keep things going. He was a talented guitar player and played often. He also was a good cook.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Connie Turner; son, Rick (Ariel Walls) Hoffstetter of Wood River and their children Erinmarie Ola Hoffstetter and Richard Wolfgang Hoffstetter, son Timothy Kelley of Granite City and his son Noah Michael Kelley, and son Thomas (Heather) Kelley of Bethalto and their children, Kolby, Hunter, and Isaac Kelley. The kids all called him Pop Pop.
He is also survived by a sister, Diane (Donnie) Branham of Cottage Hills; brothers, Gary (Cindy) Kopsie of Wood River and Robert Hoffstetter of Defuniak Springs, FL; a nephew, Johnny Kopsie; a great nephew, Justin Lee McMaster and his children, Nova and Aselynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his sons, Janice Kelley; and two nephews, Butch McMaster and Lee Wayne Branham.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
