Richard J. “Big Papa” Harris, 53, passed away at 2:12 a.m. Saturday, September 04, 2010 at his home.
Born July 8, 1957 in Kewanee, Ill., he was the son of Shirley Harris.
He married Cheryl A. Jockisch March 8, 1991 in Edwardsville. She survives.
A crane operator, he worked for Beelman Truck Co. for 11 years.
He was a member of Splinter Creek Dirt Riders.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason R. and Amanda Harris of Alton and John R. and Terrina Harris of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Paige and Brooke; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Raul Muytoy of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Tracy Razor of St. Peters, Mo. and Todd and Lisa Razor of Livingston; his parents-in-law, Gene and Carol Jockisch of Bethalto; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kim Benton and Rusty Springman of Wood River and Gene and Michele Jockisch of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews, including Candace Benton, to whom he was very close.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 6 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from noon until time of services at 4 p.m. Darin Trent will officiate.
According to his wishes, cremation will follow.
Memorials may be given to BJC Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
