Richard Edwin Ray Jr., 71, formerly of Bunker Hill, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was born on November 11, 1941 in Fayette County, IL, the son of Richard Edwin and Nellie Lucile (Break) Ray Sr.
Richard married Sheryl Bond on August 31, 1963 in East Alton. She survives.
He was a forklift driver at Olin Corporation in East Alton until his retirement. He was a member of the 1st Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, OH. He was a blood donor and he enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting and blackberry picking. He also loved to watch the Three Stooges and Pawn Stars.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Ray of Bellefontaine, OH; his mother, Nellie Ray of Bethalto; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Charles Bingaman of Bellefontaine, OH and Patricia and Ken Beerup of Collinsville; three grandchildren, Derek and Megan Bingaman of Bellefontaine and Bryce Ray of Collinsville; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Nancy Zumwalt of Bethalto, Sue and Dennis Ratliff of Wood River, Vicki and Marty Myers of Bethalto and Karen and Walter Moss of East Alton; several nieces and nephews and his dog, Rocky.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, June 28, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Visitation will continue from 10 until services at 11 am on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
