Richard "Dick" Howard Horn, 83, passed away at 6:20 am on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at River's Crossing in Alton with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on June 10, 1939, in Alton, IL to Charles Joseph and Florence Ellen (Howard) Horn.
He married Mary Kathryn Bennett on October 21, 1961, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Alton. She survives.
Dick graduated from Marquette High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Upon retiring from a local phone company, Dick owned and operated Richtech, a beverage service company for 18 years.
Dick was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He was actively involved with the Alton Knights of Columbus and previously served as President of the East End Improvement Association.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by a daughter, Kelli (Jim) Gizzi of Ferndale, WA; a son, Jeffrey (Mari) Horn of Denver, CO; a granddaughter, Jenna Gizzi of Ferndale, Wa; a sister, Cathy (Rich) Coffman of Alton; a brother, Bill (Betty) Horn of Godfrey; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Horn of Alabama and Carol Gaither of Staunton, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and good friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Charles Horn Jr., Jack Horn, and Ellen Wiley.
Visitation will be 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church or Cathedral Restoration.
