Richard “Dick” Alan Wilson, age 69, passed away at 2:35 am, Saturday, November 16, 2013, at his home with his family by his side, under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born in San Diego, CA on April 4, 1944, the son of the late Henry C. & Marie L. (Allen) Wilson
He married Janet Diane (Sanders) in Alton on April 30, 1966. She passed away on April 12, 1988. He later married Mary A. (Westendorf) at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey on July 7, 1990. She survives.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Air force from 1966 to 1970. He retired from Granite City Steel where he was a supervisor in the Coke Plant. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and then St. James Catholic Church in Potosi, MO. He enjoyed auctions, gun collecting, traveling to spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by four children and their spouses, Matt A. & Pam Wilson of San Antonio, TX, Mark A. & Theresa (Landewe) Wilson of King Prussia, PA, Teri L. & Joshua Kallal of Alton and Michael & Lauren Volk of St. Louis, MO; Nine grandchildren, Matheson and Caitlin Wilson, Henry and Samuel Wilson, Alyssa, Guin, Amber, Ben and Vivienne Volk; also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, John & Bridgette Wilson of Roxboro, NC.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday, November 19th, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 20th, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, IL with Fr. Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey with full military rites conducted by the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in St. Louis, MO, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
