Reverend Doyle D. Miller, 83, died at 2:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born October 17, 1927 in Nortonville, KY, he was the son of Ruby Lloyd and Oshie Elizabeth (Hill) Miller. He was a pastor at the First Church of God in Rittman, Ohio and at the Alton First Church of God. He also worked at Central Hardware in Alton and at General Motors in Detroit.
On January 28, 1949 in Belding, Michigan, he married the former Ayme Joy Thompson. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Connie Schuh and her husband Eugene of Alton, two sons, Thomas Miller of Alton and Chris Miller of Alton, five grandchildren, Linda Goulart, Michael Hamby, Amy Waters, Jamie Buchanan and Megan Miller, 12 great grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Goulart, Michael, Brian and Matthew Hamby, Nicolas Mahan and Logan Waters, Kendall, Gabrielle and Carly Miller-Peuterbaugh, Brayden and Kamryn Buchanan, three step granddaughters, April Imming and her children, Bradley, Taylor and Tristan Imming, Messina Lenger and her children, Lizzy and Lucas Lenger, and Jolene Dixon. Also surviving are five brothers, Lyndell Miller of Anderson, IN, Hobert Miller of Toledo, Ohio, Nobel Miller of Denver, Melvin Miller of Anderson, IN and Aubrey Miller of Toledo, IL. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth R. Miller, four brothers, Arvil, Milburn, Harold and Leburn Miller and one sister, Verla Schwab.
Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Jonathen Absher will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the First Church of God in West Alton, MO or to the Meadowbrook First Church of God.
