Rev. Leslie Donohue, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
He was born in Girard, IL, on November 1, 1922 to the late Leslie & Thora (Peffley) Donohue.
He married Faye (Lindsay) on January 30, 1967 in Harrisburg, IL. She survives.
Leslie serviced his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed at the Granite City Steel for over 30 years as a mill rite. He was the minister of the Bible Church of Jesus Christ on Central St. in Alton for many years. After retirement he and his wife attended the Apostolic Pentecostal Church on Missouri Ave in Granite City. He enjoyed fishing, painting, listing to music, playing the guitar and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, John & Katheryn Donohue of Fairview Heights IL and Gary & Marilyn Vanhooser of Alton; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Donohue of Granite City; two sisters, Eileene Ellis of Crestview, FL and Dorris Masters of Granite City and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Donohue.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until funeral time at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev. Doloris Land officiating.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
