Dr. Erwin Kolb

Rev. Dr. Erwin J. Kolb, 85, now is with Jesus, on Monday, July 26, 2010. He was born on August 6, 1924 in Bay City, MI, the son of John Frederick & Lydia (Lutz) Kolb.
Dr. Kolb served at the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as Executive Director for Evangelism. He served at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE. and was parish pastor in Southern Illinois. Erwin proudly served in the U.S. Marines Corps and volunteered for the U.S. Army Reserve chaplaincy retired with the rank as Colonel.
Beloved husband of A. Bernice (Homm), loving father of Kathryn (Joseph) Sauer of Whitefish Bay, WI, Rev. Peter (Mary) of Palm Harbor, FL and Denise of Seattle, WA, proud grandfather of Joel (Christy) Guinane, Michael Guinane, Mark Sauer, Paul and Stacy Kolb, great-grandfather of Reid Guinane, dear brother of Doris (Ralph) Horton of San Diego, CA, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by Carl (Renata) Kolb, Arlene (Lyman) Schroeder, Florence (Fred) Piegols.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bethalto, IL, with Pastor Daniel Decker officiating. Inurnment will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
