Renelda Elizabeth "Sue" Bell, 83, died at 2:30 a.m., Sunday, January 26, 2025 at her residence.
She was born in Kane, Illinois on December 24, 1941, and was one of four children born to Hubert John and Edna Mary (Beiermann) Drainer.
"Sue," as she was nicknamed early on by her family, grew up in Kane on the family farm, where she learned the value of hard work. She worked tirelessly on the family farm, and then later assisted her husband, Duane on their farm. There wasn't a task she wasn't willing to perform or a job that she couldn't undertake. In addition to farm work, she also was employed in the housekeeping department at Principia College in Elsah for 20 years before retiring.
Sue enjoyed being outdoors, and was known for her absolutely meticulous yard, keeping it manicured to perfection. After a long day of yard work and being outdoors, Sue would unwind watching Fox News.
After graduating in 1960 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, she married Duane A. Bell on Dec. 22, 1962 in Carrollton. Together they shared nearly 26 years of marriage before his death, at the age of 52, on August 17, 1988.
Surviving are her three children, Ronald Bell of Kane, Marcia Coop and her companion, Mark Hanneken, of Jerseyville, and Terri Eardley and her husband, Derek, of Dow; eight grandchildren, Russell Bell, Renae Jones, Ryan Bell, Roland Bell, Kyle Coop, Kaleb Coop, Tyler Slaten, and Summer Slaten; three step grandchildren, Makayla, Madalyn and Emily Eardley; 10 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Vahle of Kane and Roberta Haag of Jerseyville; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Debbie Drainer of White Hall; and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Krueger of Jerseyville and Shirley Bell of Florida; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Michael Haag and Roger Vahle; a great nephew, Alec Vahle; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell Joseph and Geneva Bell.
Private visitation for the family was held on Monday, February 3. 2025 from 10 a.m., until time of the funeral services at 12 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
She was laid to rest in the Drainer Addition of the Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Kane Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
