Regina G. Auer Van Winkle, 53, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at her home in Godfrey. Born August 24, 1958 in Alton, she was the daughter of Everett C. and Flossie E. (Maynard) Auer. She was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary. On February 16, 2008 in Jamaica, she married Jack Van Winkle. He survives. Also surviving are two step daughters, Michelle Van Winkle of Alton and Lacey Van Winkle of Alton, two sisters, Brenda S. Simpson of Alton and Pam Venne and Gerry Shanholdt of Dallas, TX, a niece, Amissa Venne of Dallas, TX, and a great niece Amber. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Everett Auer. A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Alton Owl’s Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
