Reba Retzer

Reba Marie Retzer, 88, died at 12:22 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on Oct. 23, 1923, the last surviving of six children born to the late Harvey & Anna Mae (Marks) Davis.She married Harry Edward Retzer on June 28, 1942 in Fordyce, Ark., and for many years they resided in the Bethalto area.  After Harry's retirement from Shell Oil Company, they relocated to Hot Springs, Ark., where they enjoyed many years until his death on March 16, 2011, at which time she came back to the area to be nearer to family.Surviving are her son & daughter in law, Ronald C. & Barbara Retzer of Godfrey; two grandchildren, Ronnie L. Retzer of Godfrey, and Shelley Forsythe of Wood River; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.In addition to her parents and husband, Reba was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Keith; and four brothers, Harvey Davis Jr., Wallace Davis, Dean Davis, and Jeff Davis.Private family services will be held.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
