Raymond Henry Huber, 83, passed away 1:50 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.
Born on the farm in Witt, IL on April 29, 1933, he was the son of Walter and Anna (Sommers) Huber.
A Korean War army veteran, serving from 1953-55, he had been a fork lift operator for the Olin Corporation, 42 years before retiring.
Raymond had been a member of Holy Angels Parish for 53 years; was a life-time member of the the Knights of Columbus in Bethalto; a regular blood donor, achieving the 10 gallon mark before having heart surgery; enjoyed painting and wood working.
On February 23, 1963 at St. James Catholic Church in Decatur, he married the former Mary Catherine Grant. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, Michael Raymond (Stephanie) Huber of Elsah; daughter, Bonita (Kenneth) Wheeler of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilou Huber of Witt; and his little dog, "Krispy Creme".
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence Huber; a sister and her husband, Kathryn and Page Walcher.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Angel Parish Church in Wood River at 10 a.m. Thursday. Father Donal Wolford will officiate.
Visitation will continue from 9 -10 a.m. at Holy Angels Parish Church and then, Burial will be 2 p.m. in St. Barbara Cemetery in Witt, IL
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Marquette Catholic High School or the Serra Club.
