Rayburn “Ray” W. Gilland, 79, passed away at 5:07 pm Monday December 24, 2012 at home in South Roxana.
He was born on November 21, 1933 in Salem, Kentucky, the son of Alvie & Rosie (Miller) Gilland.
He married Rosalie L. Bowman on March 9, 1956 in Alton. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2000.
He was a member of the Alton 1st Southern Baptist Church in Alton. He retired from Piasa Lincoln Mercury as a mechanic and was a member of the Bethalto Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by two brothers, Garry & Cheryl Ramage of Bunker Hill and Gene & Carol Gilland of South Roxana, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday December 27, 2012 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where Masonic Rites will be held at 7 pm with Bethalto Masonic Lodge # 406.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
