Ray E. Volkmar, 70, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Born December 13, 1950 in Talmalco, IL, he was the son of Edward and Kathrina (Finger) Volkmar.
Ray attended Alton schools until 1970, until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He had been employed as a driver for Sanders Sanitation.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed car cruises. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; and loved his cats.
Ray met and married Cynthia Mizerski in December of 1979. She survives.
Surviving also are his children and their spouses, Kasey Volkmar (Andy Kern), Kathryn (Shawn) Kelley, Chad Kopsie, Niki (James) Hanner; grandchildren, Ethan, Trey, Brayden, Heaven, C.J. and Shyann; and great grandchildren, Brice and Scottie.
His parents and a brother, Frank Volkmar preceded in death.
A Celebration of Life Memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, February 17 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
