Phyllis Daughhetee

Phyllis M. Daughhetee, 92, passed away and went to be with Jesus at 5:46 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at her residence with her daughters by her side.  She was born on January 20, 1932, in Hartford, the daughter of the late Paul and Alice (Vinson) Plummer.  She married Gene Daughhetee on November 5, 1949, in Alton, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1995.  Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Diana and Pat Doyle of Forsyth, Missouri, Jeannie and Rick Huddleston of East Alton, five grandchildren and their spouses: Brian and Robin Doyle, James and Nadia Doyle, Amy and Chris Johnson, John Huddleston, Drew and Danielle Huddleston, nineteen great-grandchildren: Tyler Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Christian “CJ” Johnson, Kyle Doyle, Brian Dale Doyle, Riley Doyle, Owen Biegler, Wyatt Doyle, Ashlynn Doyle, Marshall Doyle, Colt Doyle, Quinn Doyle, Brynn Huddleston, Avery Huddleston, Addyson Huddleston, Zoie Huddleston, Lyndon Thies, Elias Thies, a great – great granddaughter: Zaviah, a brother and sister in law: Paul and Jackie Plummer of Grafton, a sister in law: Judy Plummer of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, a brother in law and sister in law: Jay and Sue Reed of Stillwater, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 

Phyllis and her husband Gene owned and operated Gene’s Chrysler and RV Center in Wood River where she was the bookkeeper.  She was a member of the Nazarene Church for seventy-plus years.  She held many offices including Sunday School Teacher, served as secretary on the church board, was active with Vacation Bible School, and served in various other capacities.  She loved her Jesus, spending time with her family, her church family, crocheting, fishing, and traveling. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Norman Plummer.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Rodney Durr and Chaplain Phillip Bender will officiate.  Burial will follow at Moro Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Roxana Church of the Nazarene.
