Phillip Morrissey

Phillip Blake Morrissey, 59, died peacefully at his home in Chicago on February 21, 2018 after a brief illness. 

A 1977 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School, Phillip attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. He lived and worked in Chicago for over 35 years . He was a long-time parishioner of The Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.He was a dedicated and honored volunteer at the Shedd Aquarium.He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Josephine in 2009, and his sister, Jane Louise in 1983.He is survived by his father, Thomas E. Morrissey M. D., four brothers,  Thomas (Patricia) of Alton,  Patrick (Kim) of Overland Park, KS,  Robert and his fiancé Joan Merlo of St. Louis, Steven (Laura) of College Grove, TN, and one sister, Ann Morrissey, of St. Louis,    7 nieces and nephews, Katherine and Stephen Morrissey of College Grove, TN,  Anna Morrissey of Overland Park, KS,  Emma Claire and Thomas Morrissey of Alton, and  Mary Rose and Elizabeth Breheny of St. Louis. Visitation will be at Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in the Community Center at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.A Mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Steven Janoski as Celebrant.Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago or to a charity of one’s choice.  Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
