Phillip A. Walker, 72, died at 5:32 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born September 28, 1938 in East St. Louis, IL, he was the son of Ollie L. (Rendleman) Walker of Fairview Heights and the late William C. Walker. He retired in 2005 from Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis as a computer programmer and he was also an inventor.
Surviving are two sons, Steven Michael Walker and his wife Carol of Byrnes Mill, MO, and Mark Allen Walker of Eau Claire, WI, three grandchildren, Kristin, Braydn, and Ryan Walker, one brother, Clarence Walker of Manchester, MO, two sisters, Janis Schmelter of Fairview Heights, and Charlyn Reece of Dupo, a nephew, Ronald Weaver as well as eight other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dale Walker.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
