Philip Parks

Philip G. Parks, 93, passed away at 12 noon Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his son’s home under the care of BJC Hospice.  

He was born on June 14, 1920 in El Dorado, IL, the son of Gus and Margaret (Mayhue) Parks. 

He was married to Bernice Barlow June 20, 1946.  She passed away February 23, 2012.  Later he married Muriel Evins on March 3, 1956.  She passed away on November 2, 2010.

Philip served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a fork lift driver for AO Smith for twenty years. He was a past member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the Alton Eagles.  He enjoyed working in his yard, car shopping, barbequing and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Lynda Parks of Wood River; three grandchildren and their spouses, Stacy and Anthony Ortiz, Melissa and Tim Prickett and Dawn and John Laws; five great grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor, Jarrah, Kennedy and Kortni and a great, great granddaughter, Kyndall.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and two sisters. 

Visitation will be 2 to 4 pm Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Monday, February 3, 2014 at the funeral home with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.

Burial will follow at Hazel Ridge Cemetery in Norris City, IL with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to Hazel Ridge Cemetery Association.
