Philip Taylor

Bethalto |

Philip A Taylor, 62, lost his fight with cancer Monday, January 8th, 2018, in Oklahoma City, OK.

He was born November 15, 1955, in Clarksville, Indiana, to Ray and Wanda (Eakins) Taylor.

Phil grew up in Bethalto, IL, was a 1973 graduate of Civic Memorial High School, and a graduate of SIU-Edwardsville.  He was a sound and light guy for rock bands in his 20s, a video producer mid-life, and finally had his own business as an expert installer of home theater systems. Phil was a lover of puns and a master of the dad joke, a lifelong follower of the St Louis Cardinals, and also a huge fan of car racing.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Ray.  In addition to his mother, Wanda of Bethalto, he is survived by his son Alan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  To Phil, Alan was the best thing that ever happened to him and he loved being his dad more than anything else.  He also leaves behind two sisters, Gayle (John) Leonard and Laura Taylor, both of St Charles, Mo, and he was a goofy uncle to Elizabeth and Andrew Leonard.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, January 20th, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL.
