Phil Butler Jr., 62, of O’Fallon, IL, born on March 22, 1962, in Shreveport, LA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Phil retired from the Air Force as a MSgt. in 2004 before joining the NGA. Phil enjoyed boats, fishing, and sports. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved and adored his family.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Hattie Butler Sr. (nee Johnson); and his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Carol Butler (nee Caldwell).
Left to cherish Phil’s memory are his three children, Courtney Butler of O’Fallon, IL, Colton (Sarah) Butler of Belleville, IL, Brandon Butler of Florida; ten brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269.
The funeral service will begin on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, with full military honors.
